Stanislaus Apartments

West Rutland, Vermont

Located in West Rutland, the Stanislaus Apartments Project consists of two historic structures that were once owned and operated by the neighborhood Catholic Church. Arnold & Scangas Architects worked with the Housing Trust of Rutland County to restore and renovate both buildings to include 17 units of affordable housing. The project, funded by an earmark from Senator Sanders Office through the Department of Energy, is a demonstration/pilot project for deep energy retrofit to achieve carbon savings and support perpetually affordable housing. The target is to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 80% for the project. This project meets the requirements of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties so that the project can take advantage of the Historic Reinvestment Tax Credits.
